About
This toolkit was developed by the University of Maryland historic preservation studio class in the fall of 2020. Taught by Michelle Magalong and Jeremy Wells, all classwork, meetings, resources, and research was conducted virtually due to COVID-19. The strategies and tips within the toolkit incorporates this challenge, and attempts to include insights into how to develop an historic context statement under such circumstances.
The project team was composed of students pursuing a graduate degree in historic preservation, including: Sam Bohmfalk, Jeffrey Brammer, Katherine Calvert, Hannah Grady, and Jared Schmitz, with help from Karen Yee, the class teaching assistant.
It is the hope that this toolkit can be a resource for future historic context statements to be more inclusive, equitable, and engaging.
