- This document contains correspondence between the American Consul General at Rio de Janeiro to the State Department about Chinese stowaways on the vessel Mistly Hall arriving in Baltimore, MD. The records showed that at least six stowaways could have been put onto the ship at a stop in Trinidad. A customs squad search of the ship found 17 smuggled stowaways.

- This file has two letters and an interview transcript. The letters discuss the case of Wong Yuen, a Chinese laundry owner who was accused of being smuggled into the United States illegally from Cuba. The case was dropped when Bureau of Immigration officials were sent a photo of Wong Yuen’s father and his Certificate of Residence. However, the Certificate of Residence was cancelled after Wong Yuen’s father’s death.
