Requesting Materials in an Archive
- Use your archive of choice’s online catalog to search for materials
- Take note of information on documents such as publishing dates, record numbers, format, authors, and location within the archive so that this information can be written in an order form to the archive
- Find information on the archive’s order policies - this usually can be found under an archive’s about section or in the contact information section
- Policy Information includes - what materials can be ordered, order forms for materials, cost of ordering materials, how long you can use materials if mailed
- If you want to see materials in-person, ask the archive if they can sent the material to a location that is open for in person research
- If you are unsure of what specific materials you need, contact the archive via email or phone to ask what materials available would fit your research needs
